On October 19, 2024, ActivCare Home Health Solutions, Inc. proudly hosted the Department of Health’s (DOH) rollout for Basic and Intermediate Training in Palliative and Hospice Care, an immersive training event that brought together healthcare professionals dedicated to enhancing palliative care services in the Philippines. The event was led by ActivCare’s Managing Director, Ricky Rosales, and Assistant Medical Director, Dr. Rhea Angelica P. Jayma, whose leadership underscored the company’s commitment to advancing high-quality, compassionate care.
This immersion program, facilitated at ActivCare’s facility, provided 41 healthcare participants and 4 facilitators with the unique opportunity to engage directly with a high-functioning palliative care team. Through hands-on observation, participants experienced the daily operations, patient interactions, and care strategies integral to providing comprehensive palliative care.
Dr. Rhea Jayma highlighted the significance of the partnership with DOH, emphasizing that “at ActivCare, we are dedicated to promoting best practices in palliative and hospice care, and this collaboration is a step towards shaping a compassionate, skilled healthcare workforce.” Mr. Ricky Rosales also underscored the importance of such immersive experiences, which align with ActivCare’s mission to enhance the quality and accessibility of palliative care for patients and families alike.
Key Objectives of the Immersion Experience
The immersion aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the roles and contributions of diverse healthcare professionals within palliative care, promoting a collaborative and holistic approach to patient-centered care. Participants gained insight into innovative treatment strategies and management techniques, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
This enriching experience not only allowed participants to observe best practices but also fostered engagement with ActivCare’s healthcare professionals, encouraging reflective learning and professional growth.
ActivCare looks forward to future collaborations with DOH and other institutions committed to elevating palliative care standards. The success of this event reinforces ActivCare’s role as a leader in hospice and palliative care, dedicated to training and empowering healthcare providers to deliver empathetic and high-quality care for patients in need.
